Best streaming site for art (and other questions)

wow I almost started this like one of my business emails.
So just as the title says, I am looking for what YOU GUYS think is the best streaming site for art. By best, I mean ease of use for the artist, the watchers, and as free as possible.
I would love to actually have a few people watch me when I do actually try to art, but most people who are willing to aren't a fan of the video stipulation of appear.in. I don't have OBS and have not really used it to understand how it functions (I downloaded it on my old laptop but there was so much wrong with that laptop it wasn't even worth trying to explore). What do you use? what do you watch your favorite artist on?

AND IS HAVING A PATREON WORTH ANYTHING? If I can't sell my hand painted canvases IRL will people really donate money for digital images? Would doing any of this at all increase my standing as a poor and somewhat starving artist?

I used to use Picarto. Seems to have decent enough features that some friends of mine are making use of it. Twitch doesn't seem bad either.

Of course both need separate broadcasting software. OBS is the only one I've managed to get working in a way I wanted it to, and sometimes is still an ordeal.

As for Patreon, not much experience. My best friend has one and she does okay. Mine doesn't get shared anywhere as I'm not really to that point. But I know some others who get a lot out of Patreon. I just don't know enough to say one way or the other.

Patreon is good if you already have a following. Prior to that, I don't think you'll get much out of it.

As for streaming, I think the choice is really between Twitch.tv and Picarto.tv, either of which are pretty good. Picarto is entirely centered around art, and twitch just has a creative section.

Either way, you'd stream the same way, probably with OBS Studio.

I've seen someone use Patreon to support their fanfiction writing, so... You could try? No idea how well the do.

Most of the artists I know use Twitch, so you could try that and see if it works for you.

So what is the deal with obs and how to use it?

I might be able to help with that after work today. I'll pm you later if no one else can help before hand.

there's some basic tutorials on both Twitch & Picarto about how to set it up. But in essence you'll want to add either a window stream to show your art application, or a display to show everything on your screen. You can get fancier with other things placed around, but that's all you need to start.

Yeah that sounds about right. I had to play with mine a little to get it to do what I wanted.

I'm totally up for some help, I have a bbq at 2pm pst so probably after 4pst I would be available if that isn't too late?

I would prefer the singular window I am working on vs the entire screen itself

Thanks for all the help guys =3

Yeah I should be around then. That should be an easy thing to do, since I've done the same thing XD

I don't know what the best way to communicate, but we could try via PM probably. Just let me know :)
