10 reasons to love facebook

made this bc someone said i couldn't do so w/o getting a tomato thrown at me.

1 - you can make events.
2 - you don't love facebook in the first place.

The only reason is - it reminds you of birthdays
I mean, I don't even congratulate people on their birthdays most of the time
I usually like the post of a mutual congratulating them because I'm a weirdo
but everyone I know seems to like that feature

pfpfpffpfpfpf i ought to add that in tbh.
ah, well.
not like anyone here actually bothers with using facebook.
honestly, i have no idea why people like it? it sells your info to advertising companies, and gets away with it.

Everyone sells your information to advertising companies.

That's just a fact of life in today's ad-supported world. Facebook isn't unique in that sense and everybody's privacy policy clearly says so if you actually read it. Even Trisphee used to, in a sense; we ran ads. The advertiser was able to collect information about things you were interested in, and we got money for it in return.

It isn't even that big of a privacy problem. There are contracts and laws in place to prevent that information from being misused. People can and do get in big trouble for poking into the data in ways they're not supposed to. The hysteria being drummed up by the fearmongers is worst-case-scenario pearl clutching that serves to do nothing but scare people for no good reason.

It's understandable that you might not like it. I'm not saying you're wrong for being unsettled by it. That's completely legitimate. But that's the kind of business deals that keep web services free to use. Let's face it: even a $1/month subscription would be enough of a barrier to entry to keep people out.

Joke's on you, I always made my birthday hidden in my privacy settings, so no one knew/remembered it!

It has pictures of cute animals because people make an effort to share cute animal pictures.

It's pretty much how I keep tabs on most of my relatives that I don't text.

Also it reminds me that my birthday cards are late.

Also again, it's giving me "social media experience" for my resume.

Further also, the best reason I saw about why everyone still uses Facebook, was because everyone still uses Facebook.
