That giant confirmation

When you pick up a broken sword or feathers from visiting threads around the forum, there is a massive confirmation box that must be clicked. Could that be made smaller, or done away with entirely?

I see the need for the error message "you have obtained one recently" to appear, but the gigantic confirmation with its second-delayed reaction is a tad annoying.

I agree with you and I find it very annoying and slow.

for me at least, it was only slow when the whole site was slow and ridden with errors. now that the battles are down and there aren't any errors, I don't mind it so much anymore, since I can click my sword/feather and almost immediately click the notification to dismiss it.

Yes, it's necessary, for a number of reasons. Some are technical (those could be dealt with) and some pertain to usability (it's just a bad idea not to have feedback). As mentioned, with the server running faster it should be less annoying.

At least it doesn't open in a new page like Roliana's did >_>
I personally don't mind the pop up thing but just wanted to say that xD

So it's faster, that's fine. Could it be made smaller?

smaller makes it harder to click on to dismiss. if it was bigger I could click it even faster! ;D

Coda 11-23-2010 02:42 PM

Lucid is exactly correct: larger targets can be clicked faster. It's a well-known law in computer usability. (The corners of the screen additionally are infinitely large targets since no matter how far you move your mouse you'll always hit the corner. This is why the start menu is there.)

But if it was smaller, you could just ignore it.
The huge pop-ups are really slow and annoying for me, too.

Vox 11-23-2010 03:41 PM

I would not ignore a popup. Even the tiniest flying giftbox on Gaia grabs my attention...or even a tiny icon in the lower right of the taskbar that is busily updating itself attracts my notice. A smaller square would be nicer, possibly with a little scroll (as in border art, not scrollbar n_n )

It's not visibility, it's clickability.

Delirium 11-23-2010 05:27 PM

I like the large box to click. It's easier for my tired eyes to spot, and doesn't take much more effort than scrolling to the top of the pages does for me.
