Say your a what!?

So there are a few bands that have names associated with them. Like if you listen to Insane Clown Posse you are juggalos/ juggalettes; if you listen to Kerli you are a Moon Chold; Lady Gaga--Lil Monsters;

What are your thoughts about this and are there others that you know of?

I find this...weird, since it tends to make being a fan of these bands a more separate thing than just being a fan. And it can make a casual fan rather uncomfortable when talking to someone who calls himself this. Well, at least for me it is. Like it's some kind of UBER SPECIAL CLUB or something.

I haven't heard of many others like this, but I also tend to ignore things like that anyway.

Well some of them it's like "oookay" but I don't think the 'little monsters' is really too out there. It doesn't sound like a special group or clique or whatever to me since I know she refers to everyone, even her casual fans, y'know? Like, I dunno I've seen interviews and she uses it as more of a blanket term for her fans is all. But I dunno, the others it seems more groupy and cliquish almost. But, XD Maybe just cause I actually like Lady Gaga.

Yes, well, Lady Gaga may be different about this (SHE ALWAYS HAS TO BE I love her XD) but it still seems weird just to refer to your fans by a special name. Like...we know you're talking about your fans. You can just say the term "my fans" and we're all good.

Azrael 03-30-2011 02:32 AM

XD she's different. In tons of different ways. A lot of bands have it ass well. I love Disturbed though I don't pay a ton of attention I do believe they kind of refer to their fans as the "Disturbed Ones". Hehe... but ya. Xd I dunno I think it's a lil neat depending on the context of it, y'know? As long as it isn't giving off that feeling of boxing you in, but more of a nickname than a group, I think it's cool.

I thinks its strange when a person is given a label just because of the music they listen to.

Phidori 04-30-2011 04:14 PM

Labels in general are no fun, but I guess, bein' a Lil' Monster isn't sooo bad.

Booga 05-01-2011 05:59 PM

I never quite understood what "juggalo" meant exactly. ;o

The term originated during a 1994 live performance by Insane Clown Posse. During the song "The Juggla", Joseph Bruce addressed the audience as Juggalos, and the positive response resulted in Bruce and Joseph Utsler using the word thereafter to refer to themselves and their friends, family, and fans, including other Psychopathic Records artists.[2] Juggalos have compared themselves to a family.[3][4] Common characteristics include drinking the inexpensive soft drink Faygo and wearing face paint.[3] They view the lyrics of Psychopathic Records artists (which are often violent in nature) as a catharsis for aggression.[5][6] Several well known figures have identified themselves as Juggalos. These include actor Kane Hodder,[7] professional wrestlers Kazushige Nosawa,[8] Vampiro,[9] Colt Cabana,[10] and Willie Mack,[11] and rappers Chuck D,[12] Coolio,[13] Kung Fu Vampire,[14] MURS,[15] and Vanilla Ice.[16] According to Utsler, "[Juggalos come] from all walks of life -- from poverty, from rich, from all religions, all colors. [...] It doesn't matter if you're born with a silver spoon in your mouth, or a crack rock in your mouth."[17]

For Lady Gaga their are more like Glam-monsters.I actually don't know if I have a term or name for the music/band I like since I take bits and pieces of different genres so I can't really be a hardcore fan of one particular band.

Nanka 05-20-2011 05:49 PM

I don't listen to Kerli, but I still consider myself a Moon Child for different reasons.

Batty 05-20-2011 05:56 PM

Hahaha. I love these things.

The Smashing Pumpkins are my favorite band;; thus, I've been called a Pumpkin Head. I don't mind the nickname. -giggles-

Lunaryon 05-20-2011 06:31 PM

Wow... I had no idea that people did things like this because of music. And the sad thing is that I listen to all of the above mentioned bands, so what does that make me?

Batty 05-21-2011 01:43 AM

I just think its silly. People take the whole ICP thing wayyy too far. I mean, I've known people who revolve their entire LIVES around that band.

Smuggler 05-23-2011 05:36 PM

For all the bands I like...I'm just a fan. We don't need to be exclusive and out there.

I know that Katy Perry fans are called 'Katy Kats' and I know that Hurts fans are 'Hurts Bitches' and I know that Mr Hudson fans are 'Hudsonettes'
