Regarding Staff Power

Dear Staffs,

I've seen staffs who are not a moderator, but they can do pretty much everything that a mod can. Isn't that a bit too much and unfair to the moderators?

I've seen artists and writers who are able to lock and move threads and who know, probably edit posts and delete posts. Aren't those suppose to be for mods, admins, and coders only?

It is like all the staff on here can do the same thing, not counting the coders and admins. Each staff should have specific jobs and abilities, instead of the same power.

I'm not hating on anyone or trying to take anyone down. A writer apply to be a writer and an artist apply to be an artist, but end up being able to be a moderator too. That is kinda unfair for the moderators. They want to help people and try to do their job and then end up seeing someone already got in their way and now they don't even have much to do as a moderator. It is an uneasy feeling, but you can't do anything. I know it is nice to have more people to help out, but I don't think a writer and an artist should be able to have moderator power. Why? Because they sign up to write, draw, design, or pixel items, not to moderate the forum.

I'm sure some will be mad at me for this, but hey, this is my honest opinion. I'm just a user and this is my point of view. This is not for my own good as I am not a staff or anything, I just had to get it out there. I'm sorry, if this come out a bit harsh or too much.

Ps : Thank you so much for taking your time to read what I have to say.

Actually Panda if you check the staff list, those artists and writers are Moderators too.
Moderating just isn't their main job.
The reason why we did this is because sometimes moderating staff isn't online at the same time.

Simply put, all members of the Trisphee staff are authorized to be moderators. Everyone is expected to enforce the rules. We have our own internal rules for who's permitted to do what, but if anyone on staff tells you to do something, do it.

Immamoonkin 04-02-2011 03:27 PM

What brought this on, Panda? Can you show us an example of this, or can you let us know which one of our staff members came to you about this? I mean, honestly, I feel a bit of hostility about this.. A post like this doesn't just pop out of no where. "Hey, I was thinkin..." You post leads me to believe that another staff member has come to you to vent of this, and you're posting this as well...

..because, to me, this doesn't really sound like something a user would take notice or even want to complain about... I'm more confused than anything right now.

Panda 04-02-2011 03:34 PM

Nope, no one said anything to me or anything. I was curious because I keep seeing writers and even artists lock thread and stuff and just wanted to know.

Immamoonkin 04-02-2011 03:36 PM

Because sometimes when situations come up, we have to take care of it ASAP.

The mod mods aren't always on, and writers/artists are just as mods as the others... We just don't focus on it all the time. We focus on it when it comes up. When it HAS to be us.

Yes, I have locked threads. Yes, I have stepped in when situations get out of hand... but only because when the situation happens, the staff itself needs to take care of it before it gets worse.

We are EXTREMELY short staffed, and you will hear more about this hopefully today. We don't have the kind of staff that many other sites do, so a lot of us have to take up the belt when others aren't on.

Panda, thanks for your concern, but as a mod myself I have to say that I would rather have everyone on staff have the power to carry out mod actions than not. There aren't always mods online to handle issues, and I would much rather have more people around who have the power to deal with it so the forums can be cleaned up quickly and efficiently. As staff we understand our roles, but we also help each other out.

In addition, some staff members have two jobs. If you check the staff list, most of us are listed under multiple usergroups. Many writers and artists do have a job and duty to moderate the forums.

I have locked threads, deleted posts and interveined when required. There are at times when I am the only staff member online, or times where there are only artists or other writer's are online.

As Moony has stated we are under staffed and so work together to keep situations from getting out of hand, instead of leaving it to fester for hours, while a moderator isn't online.

All staff can mod, Panda. That being said, a few staff members are in multiple categories, I myself am in three: Artist, Writer, and Super-Mod.

And this is why I luff joo Alex.

I'm primarily a writer but I am also a mod, hopefully with some training a coder.

xD I wonder what I'm better at...
