Dreams

I had some odd and awesome dreams last night and couldn't help but think after I woke up, "These would make some epic parts in a story."
One of them was a dream where myself and 3 other warriors were waiting for a dragon to show up to defeat it, and over the horizon he shows up with 3 other dragons. one for each of us. I woke up before I could get eaten. :P

What do you think of dreams and there usefulness in writing?

Depends entirely on the dream I'd say. I don't really use dreams in my writing as much as dreams I have can spring from what I'm working on, often with no relation to the story at large. It seems to be a side affect of a mind working overtime to generate fiction I guess. I'm more of a music person. More of my work has come from inspiration fron a piece of music than a dream, though a couple of my pieces has been inspired by pieces of art.

I say. Oh hell yes. I've even written down a lot of my dreams because of it. Its usually because the dreams I have are very cinematographic and draw from stories, pop culture elements and so forth.

I hate when dreams are a reflection of my waking life, usually. Because it'll either be at work or because I'm obcessing over a great book at the time I'll have a lot of scrolling words in my dream and it annoys the HELL out of me that I can't read in my dreams.

Like Poggio my dreams are very cinemagraphic. Lots of what I remember is actually the setting as well. So if I needed a setting I'm sure they would help plenty lol.

I've actually used to dreams to inspire just about all of my roleplays.
