So how about that Hurricane?
Irene going to affect anyone on here?
I'm in southern NH and they're saying that even we need to be prepared. I'm somewhat concerned about our mobile home washing away, though since I'm not really by the coast I don't know if it will be as bad. |
Floridians like me have to deal with them about 3 times a year on average. The cleanup after one blows through can be a big hassle.

I am here in Concord NH, and I say f*** the hurricane, it's just stupid scare tactics to get you to buy things to prepare for a glorified thunderstorm.

Haha quite possible Trent! As a Walmart associate I can say we haven't been able to keep up. But...this is North Carolina and we are at least mildly hit by hurricanes each year. Why our managers are too stupid to plan sales for the hurricane season *or even* tell associates to pull backstock for things that do run out is beyond me. Walmart complains about the economy then you know things are bad. But the money they are putting into trying to save and earn seem to be, for the most part, turning little to no profit. Just more stress and items on the check list for those they employ. ;>x< Part of me hopes it's not just my store that isn't milking it for what it's worth.
Does NH get hit by hurricanes? I never really pay attention to them when they happen so I don't know how far they get up north. |
I think we've had tornados, but Hurricanes are very rare, according to the news it's not even supposed to be a hurricane by the time it gets here, it's supposed to be a heavy tropical storm but they're stupid so I just ignore it, whenever it hits here I doubt it will be bad and I'll probably just unplug my computer so the lightning doesn't fry it.

I might be. I'm in NY state. Four hours from NYC. . . Crap.
I'm not looking forward to it. The time it's gonna hit approximately, I will be at work. |
If a hurricane is going to hit on a day you work I doubt you'll have to go...

When ever a hurricane hits somewhere.. Ohio tends to get some heavy rain, wind and Thunder. xp
|
I live in Conecticut along with Sugar, Star Seeker, and Desmond. My parent's friend was forced to evacuate her home (she lives near the beach). For our area, I heard they are estimating 10 inches of rain, 65 mph winds, possible tornados, and 3-5 days with no power. ... And the college Star and I are going into has actually already cancelled freshman orientation this weekend and the first day of classes on monday D=

Btw just saying, don't take anything like a state of emergency or a natural disaster and force of mother nature as a joke. Thats what gets you killed or hurt. I live in Delware and we have prepared pretty good I think. It never in any case hurts to take it seriously and do easy things like picking stuff up from the yard and taking it inside so it doesn't go through yours or someone else's window. But if it does not turn out so bad then be happy cause your were ready and expecting worse.

I'd have to agree with Reaver. WE DO NOT KNOW EXACTLY WHAT THE WEATHER WILL DO. I live in Louisiana and Katrina devasted where I had previously lived. We fled up towards North Eastern Louisiana. We ended up moving there and we remember that we had bad weather during Katrina up here. This place wasn't hit by any hurricanes and hasn't been hit with any tornadoes in the past 15 years, but we are not going to just sit around, I know we don't have much to protect ourselves with, like a storm cellar, but we could huddle in the center of the house, or be taken to a larger safer building in the city. :P

I doubt CT will see the hurricane.

'._. Reyo doesn't live in a trailer.....
The sycamore tree that was in my backyard almost fell on my bedroom a couple years ago during a hurricane, though. It split down the middle, and the half that was opposite my room smashed through the fence. We couldn't let our dogs into the backyard until we got it cleaned up and fixed the fence. We had the rest of the tree removed, too. It was rotting from the inside out from carpenter ants burrowing into it. |
Oh, hm, I thought I saw mobile home somewhere, anywho, I do.
I have a GIANT "Christmas Tree" in our backyard, thats like a leaning tower of cheez-a. And we're always worried that things gonna come crashing through. |
I'm not sure how bad it's gonna get here in VA but we're getting rain from Irene right now. o ~o I heard the evacuated the Carolinas?
