hot water tank leak

well an odd way to start off the new year
dad walks up the stairs and says

"The hot water tank is leaking, Happy New Year!"

O-O dad really

but anyway, anyone know about leaking hot water tanks?
everyone has went off to bed which surprised me no one is doing anything about it... more likely will later just wondering at the moment how safe it is to leave it like that

-----
found out a few moments ago he turned off the water to the house so, I guess that's alright
but that was still an odd way to say happy new year

My solutions: buy a new one (other solutions are not as long lasting)

Or use that putty stuff...the stuff that can patch ANYTHING

ROFL I'm amazed at how calm your father is..... Then again, my dad's the same.... He'd make a joke out of it when something serious is broken and just pull out the tool box to fix it...

yeah I was a bit shocked how my dad responded to that, he never responds like that, always a very serious person, but I think he was too tired to care anymore

Hmmm he may have been...

At that point, it is entirely possible he was too tired. And I'm with Yokuutsu on this, best bet is to replace it. However, if it turns out that it is a valve or pipe on it, then just replacing that should do it.

I think he was just too tired... more likely because we went bowling for a few hours like we always do, my grandpa really likes to bowl ^-^
but yay he got it fixed so no problem anymore

laughs slightly I thought he fixed it, but instead he turned it back on and yesterday it broke completely -_- so no hot water at all...
