Tamora Pierce The Tortallan Series

The Tortallan Series were my absolute favorite book series growing up. It was my only true friend when I moved around and i was wondering if anyone else had ever read any of those books?

Ashurato 01-10-2012 12:29 AM

Read them. A million, million times over. <3
I loved the three quartets so much that I could never tell you which of them I loved the most.

Really??? I am the same!!! Have you kept up with it? Did you read the trickster series or the terrier series??? Those books are so good I cannot even tell you how many times I have read each... My squire and in the hands of the goddess front pages are both torn and held together with tape!

I've read the Beka Cooper books and the Trickster books too.
Once again, I can't choose between either since I love them different ways.

Nawat makes me laugh to high heaven though.

I loved nawat! He always made me laugh. Him and George are two of my favorite characters.

I love this series. Read it about 2 times now, and I plan to read it some more, and move into Beka Cooper and the other series.

I haven't really been able to get into the Terrier series as much... And the circle of magic series I have tried so many times to get into and have failed.

I agree with Airina. I have tried to pick up Terrier several times to finish reading it, and for awhile I get into the book and want to finish but I quickly lose interest. I had the same problem wth the Kel series. The only two that were able to keep me interested through the entire series were the Alana books and the Dane books. (I think her name was Dane? I seems off, and it had been a long while since I read that series. xD;;)

I read Protector of the Small or whatever it was called, liked it fairly well though I didn't love it, and then tried to read the Alanna books and kinda hated them. She wrote those first so it's possible her writing got better as she went, maybe some of the later ones are better >.>

I sometimes get the feeling Pierce is trying too hard to make strong female characters at the expense of the male characters, though.

Honey 11-30-2012 10:15 PM

I agree with the latter half of that you said. xD That was what really bothered me about the Kell books becauseso much was against her and there was a constant reminder of aside from Alana there was no other female warriors serving under the King of Tortall. Really got my goat, and I believe that is why I really could not read through it.

I own every single book that has come out by Tamora Pierce (almost.. i'm missing a few cause of tight money recently :[ )

i've read and re-read most of them <w< most never have a clue of what im talking about when mentioning these books

Triateyal 09-23-2013 08:33 PM

I have. I read the Trickster set, the Beka Cooper books, the Alanna quartet. I'm probably too old to be reading them, but I still do. I wasn't too fond of the last Beka book though, the pacing felt off.

Shadami 09-26-2013 07:07 PM

i've loved every single book i've read of hers.
