Laptop not finding any networks

Well seems I have another computer problem however this one is my laptop...

I've tried already looking online on my desktop on a fix but I haven't found any yet...

okay, first off it was working before I left my bf's house
so I closed my laptop like normal putting it in sleep mode before I leave, and opened it when I got home
it gave me a black screen for a while so I restarted it
then it wasn't able to find any networks... so can't connect to the internet on it
I tried to restart it (which worked the other day...)
and it still didn't work, currently running scans since the directions my computer gave don't work
my CD drive on it stopped communicating with this operating system
(I know it still works since my bf tested it with a different operating system with a boot CD)
and well my updates on this computer haven't worked in ages even had people look at that but they couldn't get that to work
anyway so that doesn't work and it's not seeing any networks
it is a vista
I know we have connection or I wouldn't be on right now...
it's kind of an old computer almost have had it working for 5 years...

Check if the computer recognizes the hardware on the manager. if not then the drivers must have been deleted. possibly from a rootkit or a worm.

had a similar issue when my desktop stopped booting and kept showing a black screen.

I had it looked at today, seems it has the software and only works through a cable, the wireless part of it is just dead...
along with the CD drive

if I plan to use that computer online anymore either I have to get a USB wireless connection like I have for my desktop
or use a long cable to the wireless box

thanks for taking the time to read and respond to this

sure no problem. also you can get the internal wireless card replaced by a computer tech.

yeah, well had a little usb wireless connection device that seems to be working

bf changed my operating system twice to get it to work again

since he kind of jumped the gun and thought changing it the first time would fix some of the problems and back when I tried it before via cd it allowed the CD drive to work so I accepted it, but anyway

hopefully I won't crash into that little usb card again... and bend it even more than what I accidently did a bit ago while it was still connected into my failure of a desktop which
seems to need a new harddrive, at least the people on the phone said that seemed to be the problem and is now sending me a replacement, yay only a few more days left warranty... but anyway

working on trying to get my tablet to working now hopes I can get it to work too
sadly it doesn't seem to be working as fast as it did before, the download I mean and installing but hopes it works

well hopefully you get things worked out

Kotomi 06-10-2012 11:36 PM

today, just did
my bf had to fix it twice... if I ever update the computer again though he will have to go through the same process to extablish connection for my tablet

hyjin 06-11-2012 11:34 PM

eww that is not good if it does that when you update
