This weather...

I'm terrified of thunderstorms and the thunderstorm season has hit my area. Well, more like I'm afraid of thunder (but not lightning, because that would be too rational for my brain). It's brilliant. 'orz

Anyone else afraid of thunder?
What are you afraid of?
Are you forced to be around it?

HABIT 07-17-2012 01:57 AM

I don't like the sound of thunder sometimes, but I love storms.
I fear lots of things, but heights are one of them, I still can deal pretty well with it though.

Ginger 07-17-2012 07:06 AM

Really? I would be more afraid of the lightning because I could die from it. I loves thunderstorms though, and absolutely enjoy standing outside in the rain.

I guess I'm afraid of going nowhere with my life and having to struggle paycheck to paycheck every month. I'm also afraid of drowning, becoming overweight, car accidents, and losing people close to me. This might be irrational but I am afraid of what might happen if I won the lottery. Yeah the money would be nice, but everyone I know would ask me for it and expect me to pay for everything if they invite me along with them on outings. Not to mention people you don't even know asking you for financial help for their sick/dying child. I mean what are you supposed to say to them? You're SOL? ..Exactly.

Rigel 07-17-2012 10:59 AM

Massy Deacon:
'orz
Heights.
I try to deal with them, but... Eh.
Overcoming a fear is an impressive strength. Go you.

Ginger:
Yep. That's the irrational part of a phobia. It doesn't matter if it'll hurt me or not, thunder is the part that scares me. Lightning is absolutely beautiful, though. =q=

Legitimate fears are legitimate. I'm absolutely petrified at the thought of having children because I'm afraid the shit that happened to me with my parents will be transposed onto my kids. I'm terrified of hurting them. I'm also afraid of being with people because all the ones I've dated have expressed a desire to one day have children. It makes me shake.

Tiva 07-17-2012 11:06 AM

I like listening to it but being out in it scares the hell out of me. With yesterday's storm (It was thundering for like 4 hours) I was inside staying away from it.
I am afraid of spiders...Alpha finds it humorous since I seem to find a lot of large spiders.

Rigel 07-17-2012 11:15 AM

I just moved away from home. There are so many spiders there. They love the place. They're mostly harmless and I haven't heard of anyone being noticeably bitten, but there are a bunch. I'm one of three who is completely comfortable with spiders, and the other two are usually busy, so I have to take care of them a good portion of the time. I like preserving life and my family expects me to kill them. 'orz

I'd be crying in that sort of storm.
In fact, I very nearly did. The thunder a couple days ago lasted for two hours and it was so loud. Aiyah.

Ekilachan 07-17-2012 02:30 PM

I'm not afraid of thunder, but I'm scared of other things. Some of these things are most insects. (I'm even afraid of butterflies.) Also, most spiders, porcelain dolls, getting in a car accident, and sometimes the dark. (Has to deal with ghosts and stuff.) And I'm scared of people judging me for who I am. Anyways, I think those there the major ones, there might be some other things, but those are the main ones. I do want to get over these fears eventually, but that won't be for a long time.

Gallagher 07-17-2012 09:29 PM

We've been having our share of storms around here, too.

I am... iffy with bad weather. Some days, it's just what I need, a good bit of calming and helps me sleep.

Other days... Well, let's just say that the weather and my PTSD don't always get along with one another. Especially when things start getting cold, I tend to get mixed feelings.

I'm generally better with storms during the day than ones at night...

I'm more scared of it being one of those bad days than of storms themselves.

Daring Scylla 07-17-2012 09:55 PM

i am used to rain because irelandnative hi. but i was NOT used to the regular afternoon THUNDERSTORMS when i moved to florida.

basically thunderstorms are weird. i'm not scared of thunder but i hate when a really close thunderclap sounds and scares the crap out of me. if i know it's coming i'm not bothered by 95% of the time. right. i'm not looking out the window for lightning.

Desmond 07-17-2012 10:49 PM

I would love a storm right around now. I hate them, getting better with them, but it would clear out this humidity we've got. It's so miserable and gross outside. And inside as I don't have AC.

Rigel 07-17-2012 11:07 PM

Ekilachan:
I'm terrified of butterflies. BU

Gallagher:
Bad days trump all phobias for me.
I don't care how scared I am if I feel good otherwise, but...

Daring Scylla:
I bet. I'm not afraid of snakes, but I don't want one to land on me suddenly.

Desmond:
Ewww, humidity. At least summer's almost sort of over, Desmond. |D;;
Stay strong, bro.

HABIT 07-18-2012 02:23 AM

Heights can be especially bad when you have balance issues too, which I sometimes do.

Ah, I see. I'm glad I'm not the only one that's afraid of them.

Lunaryon 07-22-2012 02:51 PM

I'm Claustrophobic, I am terrified of pretty much any insect/arachnid. Scorpions especially.

Kitty♥ 07-22-2012 11:50 PM

In all honesty, I absolutely
LOVE thunder storms!
I don't know why, but I do.
I love the sound of thunder,
the rain, and the lightning.
Heh. ^-^

I'm absolutely terrified of
ever being buried alive,
I think that would be so
scary! I'm also afraid of
tight spaces that I have no
escape from.. >.<'

Echo-chan713 07-23-2012 09:58 AM

I'm the weird one that love thunderstorms as well as lightning in the middle of the night
