Default Battlebots #1
So I am really enjoying being able to watch Battlebots again. Considering it had not been on since I was a kid! Anybody else watching? what is your favorite bot?

Default #2
This one of those robot dueling shows like Robot Wars? I'm not sure of the title but I know I used to regularly watch those shows a while back.

Ya robot fighting!

Battlebots was really popular in the late 90s early 2000s. I think it was like on Spike tv or something. . .

Anyway! It's back now and still pretty exciting.

Yeah, I remember that stuff! Though I can't say I won't get shows mixed up.

I remember only three robots really well, I think. Ziggo, which was a reigning champion that I the designer named after his cat. Looked like an upside-down silver bowl with claws out the side that would spin really fast. I saw it lose once when it went up against something really heavy and when the claws caught it warped from the spinning.

There was one called "Grendel" which was green and had a long hammer-arm. Not terribly effective but I thought the idea was cool.

The one I liked I can't remember, but it was also a champion at one point; 6 wheels, clear kevlar casing, low and heavy.

hmm maybe Bronco? Bronco seems to be almost immortal xD It's low and heavy and the only thing it can do is get another bot on top of it and then it flips them. But the other bots can't really do anything to it. . .

All the ones I am fans of have lost this season but I still like them. One is uhm The Red Devil. It has grabby claws, a saw, and it can rotate its wheels around all cool like. I think if the guy operating it was a little quicker on his feet he could really do some cool things with it.

Default #6
I don't think I recall a robot called Bronco. Maybe there's a list online somewhere I I can sift. I remember Ziggo really well though. He was really popular.

I think I'm probably thinking of Robot Wars but not sure.

EDIT: I have found a list! But no, not Bronco, though I do recall Tombestone and Biohazard.

It's fun to think about what kind of robot I would make.

I like the control types but the ones with the spinner seem to win the most.

Default #8
Got him! Minion, Superheavyweight.

I remember a few of these guys now that I'm looking.

Thinking about design I recall thinking that someone need to make a robot with wheels that were large enough to protrude on both sides of the body so that if it was flipped, it could still move.
Default #9
oh he looks pretty fierce!!

Default #10
Edited in a comment about design into my previous post. I did used to imagine what sort of robot I would make. The big ones that were sturdy and could shove other robots around seemed to do fairly well.

One robot, maybe Grendel, got it's hammer stuck into another robot and nearly flipped itself trying to get the hammer out again.

There is one now with a Rake to try and beat up the drones. It worked the first time and was hilarious but everyone got wise to it after that.

This is the Red Devil, his wheels move in all the directions! He is capable of righting himself but the guy controlling him was really slow to do it.

Default #12
Drones? Those a field hazard or a type of robot?

Yay, tracks!

Reminds me of an old reality show where contestants brought in the craziest off road vehicle they could manage, and the Canadian group made some manner of converted snow plow. Made it to the finals but lost when the other vehicle rammed it and the track fell off the things that drive it. (Total car expert here!)
Default #13
Don't worry. I know nothing about cars.

xD

Drones like the flying robot guys that spy on you except they spit fire

This is the kind of thing I've always wanted to do, but it's a ridiculously expensive hobby.

I've ALSO always wanted to make a video game based on the idea, possibly crossing it with Junkyard Wars in the process. Unfortunately, I've only fairly recently gotten the skill to actually DO it.
Mega Man: The Light of Will (Mega Man / Green Lantern crossover: In the lead-up to the events of Mega Man 2, Dr. Wily has discovered emotional light technology. How will his creations change how humankind thinks about artificial intelligence? Sadly abandoned. Sufficient Velocity x-post)

Why is that unfortunate? Sounds like you could (theoretically) do it now.

I liked Junkyard wars.
Default #16
Because I don't have the time or stamina to do it now that I've got the ability. ^^() I've gotten old. :(
