Default I can't believe how dumb I am sometimes. #1
So I sold my first thing on Ebay and I totally messed up shipping. Turns out it was more expensive than I thought it would be.

so now I am out nine dollars which isn't a lot but the feeling of "how stupid am I?" remains. I'm still wondering why the prices on the website were different than when I went in the building. I fixed my remaining auctions when I got home but it was a real learning experience for me.

Has anyone else had a "learning experience" as I did?

Do not trust the internet. Most websites will say somewhere (maybe in very small font) that prices may vary.

It's better to charge too much for shipping than not enough.

Don't let this moment affect you too much... We all make foolish mistakes once in a while in our lives... I bought a paintball gun for $200 from a friend and then i could only sell it for 1/2 because no one wanted the extended barrel for it so I'm stuck with that part of the gun...

yeah, i've done stuff where afterward i feel like a total idiot. Like i got medicine that i didn't necessarily need, but I had already refilled it and thought I had to pay for it to the tune of $82. turns out i didn't have to. So I felt like a dumbass, but I guess I learned my lesson. To ask before paying :) Really stuff like this does teach you a lesson. So I suppose it's better to learn it now rather than later when it could cost more :) And I've dealt with ebay. I hated it. It turned out it was easier and cheaper to just throw it away than to pay for packing material and drive to the post office and pay for shipping. :\

You'll get used to it after you sell a few things

On a different note entirely, I thought it was pretty funny to see how you ended up being stuck with an extended barrel for a paintgun and the next poster is callrmed DoubleBarrel.

Dumb happens, ;). And shipping is evil on Ebay. It's believed by many I think that a lot of people make money on shipping costs. I used to trade magic cards online a lot, so I know what the shipping costs from here to the the US and it's around $2 for up to 4 cards, (covering stamp, envelope, and hard plastic case), which is what most people put but you will often see charges of $4.00 plus 50 cents for each additional card. Add in the price for the actual card and things add up. Drives me nuts bit ebay usually sells stuff cheaper than retail. :(

that happened to me in reverse one time, i bought something and the person realised they were short $10 for the shipping. usually if something like that happens you can send the guy person an email and see if they dont mind paying the excess, you can send cash through paypal that way.

I don't think the guy will contact me, he hadn't even given me feedback yet and I know he got it.

It was sent certified.

Well, on contacting the person about shipping being wrong...they might do it, but some people wouldn't since they would be like instead of buyer beware, it's seller beware!

Which personally, it would depend on how much I needed the item and the availability. And how the seller asks me. If they demand it, I'd tell them to kiss my rear end. And if I have the money too.

But next time, (I know I've said this before) it's better to charge too much for shipping than not enough. Or check (if you can) how much it would cost to send it beforehand. The post office can weigh it and give you an estimate I believe...

Edit:
My dumb!

One time I had a Math 140 test....I left my calculator of doom at home which you need for every single question. Luckily someone ninja'd theirs to me before the test was over <3

I still didn't do too good, but I did better than without it.

Do not sweat it to much, it happens to us all. I only worry about mistakes if they are much larger then the one you made. Minor miscalculations suck, but they serve their purpose without hurting your bank account, or wallet, to much.

I've never tried selling anything on Ebay, though I'd like to. I have a lot of books and DVDs and things that I don't need anymore P:

And I have made mistakes like that, but you just gotta look past it. A few months ago I bought this underwater camera for a hundred bucks because the card that matched it was on sale or something stupid. I wasn't thinking and bought it, and I was fine with it until my mom pointed out what an idiot I was, and now I get pissed every time I look at the camera. Thanks, Mum. = . =

I have in my job where I had to find his item three times before I found the right one. I looked at the numbers not the item itself but the numbers got covered with permanent marker so I couldn't fully read it. And it's the first it has ever happened.

At least finding it three times and finding it than to look all over it and to find out that it's gone
