Our playstation is being borrowed out so we can't watch any movies until we get it back!

At least we still have our wii u. But we rarely use it unless we are drunk.

Only a little into the day but daily awesome so far has been introducing my 4 year old niece to Loony Toons. She got a kinder toy with Tweety. Her complaint that it was a "girl toy" (she wants boy toys) led to a discussion about how Tweety is a boy, and looking up the old cartoons on netflix. She still doesn't believe me that Tweety is a boy, because he has eyelashes (I pointed out that boys often have better eyelashes than girls and how unfair this will be later in life ;)) but it was fun to watch. She thought they were "very silly" cartoons, and I noticed some old stuff that my diminutive self had missed all those years ago. Mainly, the wine drinking knight in one cartoon who's name was "Sir Osis of Liver." He was seated next to "Sir Loin of Beef."


Yesterday was less awesome. I was going to go to the new Star Wars but was feeling ill so didn't make it, but was able to sell my ticket to a friend who wanted to come, so it didn't go to waste. It's something!

I went to Karl Strauss for dinner, bit of a treat (spent $100 ^^; ) -- had some REALLY good noms. Ginny got a smoked gouda burger, Jason got chicken tenders and fries, and I got a spicy banh mí sandwich.

I suppose you can call it a "bar and grill" but it's somewhat more upscale than that. They only sell their own brewed beers (some of them brewed on-site even) and the food quality is better than most places like Chili's or Applebees. (Of course, it costs correspondingly more -- as I said, a $100 ticket, after tip, for an appetizer, three entrees, a kids' meal, two beers, and a soda.) It's not ritzy -- nobody's going to give you a dirty look for wearing a t-shirt and jeans -- but it's definitely on the quality side of the quality-vs-price balance.

oh, sounds good, although that is pretty pricey!

I don't go there often! XD We were treating a friend that we hadn't spent much time with.

Hmm, a restaurant called Karl Strauss. I don't think I've ever heard of it.
I don't think that I have any in my area, but if I do ever run into one I will be sure to check it out!

p.s. I love bahn mi sandwiches!

Oops. It's accented "bánh mì". I know how to TYPE it, but I remembered wrong! XD

And yeah, all of the Karl Strauss locations are in California, mostly in the Bay Area but a couple in SoCal.

My brother is stationed there (in San Diego)! So maybe I will get to visit one someday!

My family will actually be visiting the area, but I couldn't make it due to the short notice.

What's the weather like there?

Los Angeles is getting chilly by LA standards; it hit a low of 36F for a night or two and then it went back to normal "winter in SoCal" -- that is to say, 50s and 60s with a little bit of rain.

I assume San Diego will be slightly warmer.

My brother's stationed there, too, actually. Small world! I'm actually going to visit him next Sunday.

The Navy base must be big down there because on of my co-worker's ex is stationed there as well. O.O

I am so jealous of the warm weather that you are having! It's 23 degrees here. ;_;

Yes, the base is *huge*. When visiting my brother it's a good 20 minutes from the security checkpoint to his home on the base.

I'm NOT from LA. I've lived here a few years now, but I was in Arkansas when I first joined Trisphee, and I'm actually FROM Kansas.
