I love hard cookies! All sorts of hard cookies! Cookies with sugar sprinkles, cookies with sprinkles if it's good sprinkles XD, chocolate cookies, checker-patterned cookies, frosted cookies, butter cookies, and all. As for soft cookies...well, maybe chocolate ones--but only after they've cooled ^_^;;

Well most candy canes are just mass produced trash that have a too sharp mint taste. I prefer real candy canes like the ones from a place called Gränna here in Sweden. I even went there once when i was younger, it was amazing how they worked and pulled the sugar, i could never work so hot sugar with my hands even with gloves on or have the strength to stretch and pull it. We always make our own marzipan figures that we coat with dark chocolate. We also make almond brittle every year but i think my mom cooks it for too long, too much taste of burnt sugar and it overshadows the almond.
We haven't made much more sweets ourselves this year tho.

Well gingerbread and saffron cakes maybe but those are not interesting.

Wow! That all sounds amazing Myst. Here in the UK it's hard to find decent sweets, so I tend to make them myself or find small businesses here that hand make sweets like fudge. This month I've learned how to make my own fudge though, and once we've finished watching The Snowman and the Snow Dog I'll be making another batch ^_^ Peppermint on a white chocolate base to make up for the lack of candy canes ^_^

Not much of a secret, I just use a recipe I found to make quick fudge on youtube. It's soft but I make it to be eaten with a spoon out of the jar. I made chocolate & peanut butter fudge for my sisters as part of their Christmas present ^_^

What seems to be the issue with your fudge? I might be able to find a fix for you.

I can't wait to go to bed. I'm so tired... I didn't manage to get to sleep until 3am this morning and then was up again by 9:30am to sort out the little one... -_- I'm glad she's still too young to get excited about Christmas otherwise I'd probably get no sleep at all...

Well maybe you should just tell her it isnt Santa giving her the gifts early and open them in the evening instead of the morning?

That's not the issue... It's more that she naturally wakes up early no matter what time she finally ends up falling asleep (which has been all over the place of late because her teeth are coming through). She's only 18 months old at the moment.

Ah that young, well it cant continue for forever and my advice was for when she is old enough to be excited about christmas.

I need to bug my friend, Jared, for his fudge recipe.

Maybe you could just find his recipe book and steal it? or of course copy it.
