Ah, so if someone wants to change their first buddy they can do that now?

No, they can just add a new one. If you LOSE a best friend for whatever reason, it's still gone, and you don't get the opportunity to add another one until these periodic resets.

Oh yeah, I forgot you're not my buddy yet! I'll do that then since you already mentioned having a leader that my water team could use. I'm thinking of evolving Icedragon Plesios to its double water form, since it has a boost for water recovery but the water/grass version has a higher boost to water attack. I do have quite a few water/dragon type monsters, so that might work better for me in the long run.

Hypermax XQ should always be in my team 1 slot, Ronia +297 or Lu Bu should be in my team 2 slot, and my active leader is usually one of those three.

I'm loving my dark Izanami team, myself. Paired with Kanna and using dark Fagan and dark Xuanzang to counterbalance Izanami's HP penalty for a sweet ~21k HP with 14xATK and good recovery thanks to Xuanzang and summer Pandora. The other team slot is filled with DQ Hera, so I've got plenty of TPA goodness.

Yes, by all means, take the easier Plesios evolution for now until you can collect the necessary materials for the better one. The better one IS way better (2xTPA FTW) but the other one is still useful enough until then.
