ROFLMAO! no no....my cats have their claws too. the pad goes in a tray under the pellet area.

but then you just pull out the tray, dump the wet pad and put a new one down and slide the tray back in. simple simple. then you just scoop the poop out. the pellets for the most part don't stick to it, thus saving the litter. xD
