I think they just wanted to censor Tom and Jerry, or only show them at certain times where kids couldn't see them or something like that.

And it was usually anything involving dynamite/explosions that they wanted to censor.

People did succeed in abolishing Speedy Gonzalez because it was "racist" though. :/

I don't think the "later" cartoons were allowed to be violent to begin with. Except Japanese anime. American cartoons made today are just goofy or sissy. It's shit. WHERE'S MY FUCKING DINO RIDERS?! D:<
