"...What the hell is that?" Red breathed- looking around.

Several of the other children were glancing around worriedly as well- all the vigor of their escape suddenly sapped in an instant.

"Run," Quarrel breathed, turning around. "RUN!"

They heard a growling down the hall, in the direction they had been headed.

"Q, what is that!?" Red cried out in alarm.

All the children started tearing down the hall frantically. They passed right under the two way mirror surface of Gale's office floor and the lead scientist and his assistant watched the children flee in horror.

"...You realize that if she gets out of control," His assistant murmured darkly, "There's only two things to stop her...one burned down a city and disappeared and the other's growing in an incubation chamber right now."

"Well, lets just hope he's ready by the time she's done," Gale scoffed.

"Just RUN!" Quarrel cried, trying to shoo the children back.

They heard hissing and as Red looked over Q's shoulder he saw a snake-like creature heading their way. It had long wings arms... its face almost looked human, as well.

"Holy fucking SHIT!" Red burst. "What is that thing!?"

It was gaining on them fast- its serpentine body coiling rapidly in their direction.

"Hungry!" Quarrel snapped. "RUN!"

The children began to flee in different directions, some of them ducking back into their rooms.

"No, don't hide! Run!" Quarrel cried toward them.

"We can't fight that thing!?" Aireio snapped at him. "There's a lot of us and only one of it!"

"We can't fight it without losing a few children and I'm not about to risk that!" Quarrel snapped.

"Get out of the rooms!" Red shouted. "Q, the doors are all open, we can get out! I can distract that thing!"

"No!" Quarrel snapped, glaring down at him. "I wont risk losing you! That thing is... you can't beat it-!"

"It's not about beating it, I can outrun it." Red replied, starting to get out of Q's arms.

"Red!" Quarrel gasped as the other broke free of his hold. "Please-!"

"Just let him do it!" Aireio cried as she rushed into one of the rooms and scooped up a crying child. "Worry about getting them out, Q- Red can take care of himself."

Frowning, Quarrel gave a small nod, before he looked into Red's eyes. "You better live."

"Are you kidding?" Red smirked- leaning against the wall. "Get going!"

He took a breath and tried not to think about his thigh as he suddenly burst toward the creature with all his speed, starting to run in a circle in front of it to get its attention.

It stopped rushing at the running children and began to swat at Red, growling angrily.

"Go!" Quarrel cried at the fleeing children. "Take a right!"

He cast one last glance back, before taking off.

Red rushed past the creature, running down the opposite side of the hall from Q and the others.

It turned around, heading after him - taking the bait.

Red was pleased that it worked, but he knew he couldn't keep this up. He had to get out and shake it off fast.

The thing was fast and followed after him, managing to keep up. It was no wonder Quarrel was terrified of it - Red was as fast as any Silver, if not faster, and the thing was having no trouble staying on his heels.

It came to a point where he was stuck at a dead end and he turned to see it rearing back to attack, when it suddenly let out a shriek and turned around.

Quarrel stumbled back a few steps and took a defensive stance. Had he followed them!?
