I get a lot of people who will speak foreign languages in front of me at work while I'm trying to talk to them and ask them questions. They're busy with chit chatting.

My family knows I am trying to learn and when I told her that speaking it as much as possible even in small amounts (like naming a color/week/day/month/number ect..) helps one learn. They don't care if their kids speak spanish and french but when it comes from japan.. noo its immature! =.=
