Let me tell you guys a story:

My husband and I live with a roommate. Well, the roommate moved out and took all his cooking supplies with him. So now we have no cooking supplies, no metal silverware, no knives. All we have is a couple of cake pans, cookie sheets, one frying pan and a wooden spoon All of our cooking supplies are packed away in storage in another state.

This is a very big problem for me since I cook everyday. Sure, I can deal with not cooking for a few days, but not for 2-3 months until we get around to going back home!

Should I make do with what we have for now or should I go out and buy a few necessary supplies even though we already have
them in storage?

The dollar store is an amazing place to get kitchen utensils :3

I have used things from the dollar store. From knives to regular cooking things. For a cheap thing to bake food in, their metal tins for the ovens do work great. The knives for cutting and chopping aren't that bad, the can opener does work for a few months at least. It worked for me about 5 or so months before it started to go bad.

In the long run until you can properly invest in stuff. Yeah go to the Dollar store. I always find it easier to cook at home then constantly eating out. It also sounds like something you enjoy doing.

Agreed, Dollar Store items while crap would be sufficient temporary substitutes for necessities that are stored away.

The other thing you can do is go to garage sales. Also check out Freecycle.org. There might be people giving away kitchen items just to get the out of their house.

If it's going to be that long I'd suggest getting something cheap to last you until you can get your stuff. A few cheap cooking utensils will probably be cheaper than eating out and not cooking in the long run. If they survive until you get your good stuff out of storage, could be you keep them as backups.

We don't have a dollar store near us so we ended up going to the next best thing. Walmart. Got some scary looking pot and pan set for $20. But it gets the job done and that's all that matters.

Here take a look for yourself. Oh the pots and pans that we got are made out of aluminum. That explains a lot... they're really light. And give the vibe of really cheaply made. XD;; I am used to working with real pots and pans. Not cheapos.
