Aaand now I'm embarrassed. I was just wanting to share a good story that was the completion of my lemon tart comments. lol

Well, since we are talking about sweets...

Cake! Candles on a cake are linked to old rituals to drive off evil spirits (said to come by on one's birthday)...or they started as a sort of "holy honeyed bread" offering to Artemis (Diana) (As a sister of Apollo...the fires and all...)

People made noise and partied around the guest of honor as a way to confuse evil spirits, and they gave wishes and gifts, somewhat like Solstice/New Years/Christmas.

So...CAKE!!!

OH! And I got contacts today!! *dances around happily* I only have to wear my gimpy broken glasses at night between taking my contacts out and going to bed! *dances more and snags a lemon tart of the table* Woo hoo!!

*chugs lemon drink* I don't think I could wear contacts. My eyes sting about nothing already. That, and the expense.

only reason I'd wear contacts would be for a costume...and it'd have to be a costume I'd get a lot of wear out of... because those types of contacts are ex-pen-sive.

Yesterday it was terribly hot and humid. Today, is steady, lovely, RAIN.

:D What's most fun is sharing with a polite toddler, one that doesn't scream and try to get the whole sharable item for their self.

Today, I got to be sort of nerdy. There was a "We Are Batman" event at a comic book shop, and they were giving away a couple of freebies, so I went and got a mask and a comic. The mask makes me look a bit cross-eyed, tbh. I'll upload the picture and share it tomorrow.

At church yesterday the lady who leads songs talked about how she and her brother, as little children, talked their parents into going to a shopping mall across town from where they lived, because the paper or the TV said that Batman would be there. Well, they got there, and it was Adam West, out of costume. She said none of the kids wanted a thing to do with the guy, because he wasn't Batman. LOL

XD I would've been excited.

I guess kids weren't as nerdy then, or something. LOL

While I admit I am not as much of an Adam West Batman fan, it would still have been very cool to see. :D

Got a couple checks cashed, put gas in Percy (I now have more than enough to get to work each day this week and I get paid on Friday, too! Score!), and now enjoying a good breakfast. Parmigiano Reggiano rinds are totally a breakfast food. XD
