I dunno. Sometimes they already know people there. Sometimes they have a "cool" username maybe. Or they just start chatting. Having a special attitude? Could be many reasons...Sometimes I skip making a welcome post.

I usually do try and strike up a chat, but I don't know. I guess there's just something about me that makes people do the whole "nod and smile and slowly back out of the room and never return" thing or something.

And normally I don't post welcome threads, but if it's a site that has the economy based on posting in the forums, and those forums aren't super-populated so I can't just jump in and start chatting, I post a welcome post because it's one more post that'll get me money.
