boku is supposed to be a boy only term for I.. girls who use it are often kinda frowned upon yet.. I hear many female sings use it a lot more then males oxo

I had noticed that too, but I found out that "boku" is only masculine in speech. It's also used poetically more generally.

In speech that makes you look like a MAJOR tomboy -- almost butch. It's sort of rebellious.

I don't think that would make you rebellious.... I think if you were doing it to piss them off and only for that, then you would be rebellious.

and there is an app out there that will quiz you on your kanji. I don't think you would have a touch phone, but it is out there.... my boyfriend has it, it's nice.

Doing it just to intentionally be different from the norm would count, regardless of whether or not the intent is to defy any individual person.
