there is some of course, you learn about the character from his decisions and inner monologues but its less than an actual story would have

Lol well I it depends on the pace of the story. If its a 6 word story then there doesn't need to be one.

And even in longer novels I guess its a stylistic choice. But since i always thought Character was the way people connected with the story, they need to be identifiable and redeemable.
