it takes a TON to get a 50au post, though. I've tried. it's quite a bit easier and more profitable to make two decent posts and get a bit more than 50 au. or just settle for the 40au I tend to make per post on average.

I was thinking it could be any amount but a small reward for beating your old record would be nice and make you feel good. An achievement list or something would be nice to.

Doesn't everyone? It makes you feel that you have achieved something and gives you something to strive for more to challenge yourself especially on the harder achievements.
