That's like an elementary school substitute teacher coming in and not speaking the native language, and wondering why no one understands.

I would want to say the particular teacher you had is not typical of deaf people, but I don't know. I've met a few deaf people, and only one of them seemed obnoxious. She seemed to be that way to get attention though.

-Shrugs.- I had some people as customers who shrugged me off before I could do a thing.

That sounds annoying to deal with :/ Most of the deaf people I have encountered were also customers.

I'd do that anyways. I always want to give someone a chance, but repeat customers who are rude don't get much respect from me.

The people who DO learn usually become good customers though.
