DK, what is the bottom item used for in Japanese culture?

I think it's something you generally see at shrines n stuff.

The rope is a item called Shimenawa, it wards off evil spirits and can keep evil sealed in to a area

They are also placed around Sacred Trees and Rocks to keep them pure of evil ^-^
