Well... A cat in thought can be a cat in spirit.

I have had dreams with cats in them but more than not it's people in my dreams. Random people from my past or present who, while I'm asleep anyways, makes perfect sense being there.

Yes, same here with regard to the people . I don't think animals have actually figured much at all into my dreams. Once I had a dream in which there were skeletal puppies running in a field.

That sounds like it might have been either a really creepy but cool, or just straight up creepy.
