Are you working 8 hour shifts? You should hit 40 hours well before your next day off it you do.

No, it's about 5 hour shifts that sometimes get turned into 7 hour shifts.

Oh well that sucks... that really makes me mad actually. You deserve to be getting overtime if you're not getting any days off.

Yeah, the assistant manager is recovering from gallbladder surgery, so we are all getting more hours. The manager is trying to not go over 40 hours herself. I'm next in line at 3rd Key position, so right now I am getting the second-most hours.

It's the company itself that doesn't want anyone to go over 40-hours unless absolutely necessary. Companies in general don't like paying overtime.

I forget that not all industries work like healthcare with out mandated staffing requirements and chronic understaffing problems where you can usually get all the overtime you want (and some that you don't)
