For me I like bold color not the pastel type of colors or I end up with the dark colors

Mines like a dark color then add any sort of bold bright color to attract the attention away from it being dark and emo

That's a nice way to do it. For me I just do straight bright colors or straight dark colors. I never tried mixing them before.

I have many times I usually have a theme and/or a color scheme, for now I have a challenge to not use alot of darks in my designs
