Silverbleed: My mom stayed in The Netherlands for a summer and is very fluent in Dutch. (She had a Dutch pen pal and learned the language to surprise him.) She tried to teach me, but all I ever learned was "De tafel is in het midden van de eetkamer." Most useless sentence ever.

Yeah, my mom bought me a English-Dutch language book and it teaches some of the dumbest sentences ever.
