Watching his husband struggle for a few moments, Near slowly climbed back onto the bed and curled up against the blonde's chest.

He couldn't really understand Mello, but he had a feeling just letting the blonde know he wasn't going anywhere would make him feel better.

"Sorry...damn K wouldn't just let me be." Mello sighed in irritation. "This crap...how do you manage with this!?"

He tugged on his IV cord.

"You get used to it, I guess..." Near sighed, reaching up to pet Mello's hair. "I love you... I really, really mean that."

Mello blinked- seeming confused.

"...I love you too." He said- again, right now it seem to come so easy. "Why do you worry so much?"

"...Mello's eyes," Near whispered, frowning as he looked up at the blonde. "Mello... looks very heartbroken. I... I don't know why."

"...I'm just...messed up right now." Mello murmured- it wasn't hard to see through Mello right now in his drug-induced state, he might as well not even been trying.

"Something is eating at Mello," Near pressed - knowing that it would be easier to get it out of the blonde while he was high as a kite. "What is it?"

"...Ahh, I do dumb stuff." Mello moaned. "I slept with your brother."

The white-haired boy managed to force himself not to wince and by the time Mello looked at him again the sad look was gone from his face. "I know that already," He reminded. "Mello shouldn't worry about it... it was in the past. There's no sense dwelling on it... and we shouldn't remember Naveen that way."

"...I don't have a choice." Mello replied. "My conscious came back today...I couldn't believe it."

"What does Mello mean?" Near asked, running his fingers through the blonde's hair.

"I can't believe this all has to happen now...it's the like the universe works against us." Mello wrapped around Near and held him tight.

"What is happening?" Near whispered, pressing against the blonde's chest and frowning. "Mello...? What is wrong? Mello needs to tell me..."

He jumped in alarm when the door to the room came open and the nurse stepped in, a certain redhead in tow.

"Hey guys, I was worried you weren't awake yet." Matt said softly.

Mello blinked up at Matt and narrowed his eyes before covering over himself and Near with the blanket.

"Mello-!" Near said in alarm.

"Is he okay?" Next asked as he slipped in behind Matt.

"Always when we're talking." Mello sighed.

"They're okay." Matt assured Next.
