yes, designers have always been able, and encouraged, to pick out one of the color sets for an item.

it goes: 1 color set for the designer to choose, 1 color set for the pixelist to choose, then the rest are filled in by the recolorist to best make sure the item has both variety in its colors and the most flexible parts possible.

with ari, for example, i'll often tell him "give me a list of the color combos you want most and i'll see how much i can fit"

Oh man :| somehow that never actually crossed my mind. Or, I never actually remembered. Oops.

You'll always feel it, but can never see it. It's strong but shatters easily. You can give it away but never hold it. What is it?

the sets to get the most variety for your $$$ are Special, Coral, Faded, and Dust. they're all alike in having completely different colors instead of shades of the same one.

Default #74
I love the specials myself. QwQ
Haven't checked out coral or dust though :0

Special is the old school, always been there variety set.

For the others, Coral is the vibrant one, Faded the dark/low saturation one, and Dust the pale/pastel one.

Duuude I'm digging the coral :0

I really like the coral and the faded. I've never been one for pastels, myself.

There is just constantly something new and impressive to me on this site.

I agree! I'm always sticking to pretty basic color schemes like black and something, cus they're easy to remain consistent with. But damn, this site opens up a lot of doors for me. Might get a makeover for my avatar soon now xD

I used to be a stickler for making sure every part of my avatar matched and was flawless, but then I started thinking about real life and how people dress. (Okay and my husband watches a LOT of Project Runway and other fashion shows.) You wouldn't usually, unless you're doing like a spotlight photoshoot or something, coordinate your outfit with your tattoos, or make sure EVERY accessory you wear is the exact same shade of orange... that's just not how people dress. I actually started liking my avatars a lot more when I let go of that and allowed myself to broaden what I use.

i find avatars made to match and avatars made with character to be under entirely different categories, and i enjoy each for different reasons.

the challenge of matched avis is really, really fun, specifically when it's not a theme you've chosen for yourself.

at the same time, i don't think it's any secret looking at my avis that i love really focusing on the details i can add into the basic body and expression and worrying about outfits after the fact.
