Maybe it might be easier to make like a market like thing? Like we can straight sell items instead of trading?

That's actually a LOT harder. ^^() It's not a bad idea at all and it's something that we've been pondering over for a long time. However, that would be a matter of developing an entire new system instead of just fixing the one we have.

On top of that, it turns out that we LIKE having a community-run marketplace instead of an automatically-mediated one, because it helps avoid automated abuses of the system (like buying low and reselling high just to drive up the prices so you can make a bigger profit).

We HAVE been pondering over a way to automate listings so it's easier to find people who are selling what you want, but right now it seems we at least want to keep the actual sales as human-to-human interaction.

I like human-to-human interaction. I vote for fixing the current system.

We hired a new coder fairly recently. His biggest job is working on our current systems. Hopefully with our coding team now we will get things moving, We would love to fix our current system then add to it as we go.

I'm trying to trade stuff from a mule and its come up with 2 trades, and won't let me open either one of them. I'm getting pissed off

Were hoping to see progress on trade system load sometime this week. I know toho is going to be looking at it today. I realize its very frustrating but now that we have 3 coders things will hopefully be easier.

mokona, that error means either your inventory or the trade is too big. That's the most common problem with the system right now and that's what Toho's working on.

Would it be possible to have a text-only option? I mean, from the inventory list in the trades section.

I remember back in the days when Gaia had the text scrolling list for their market, things went faster and more smoothly then their image-intensive system that they have now. It might help if all those thumbnails didn't have to load oAo *jabs the trade system with a sharp, pointy object*

It's actually not the images that are the problem. It's the way the page is constructed. There's just too much data being loaded into memory on the server at one time. The images are loaded by your web browser so that doesn't hurt the trade system at all.
