Kyun is the easiest to do because of the size and shape... I am getting tempted by this however.

sorry if its a bit jumbled.. no PS on this pc ^^; so i work with what i have... if your lost on something i tried and probably failed at showing feel free to poke me i can try to go over it in better details. (no my shading isnt perfect >.< im rather bad at it .. but with pixels like emotes you can fudge it a little and it'll look fine <3

you can also go into a ton more detail and shade them to make them look more i guess 3d so to say.. but my skills aren't that great ^^; i did try but i deleted that one cause it was .. pretty bad

actually looking at it you can pull the shadow up a bit more into the image.. i didnt shade enough ^^;;

Looks like a nice guide there Rose. Seeing the actual technique laid out like that is quite helpful and I'll look into it. The shading itself helps a lot to make it look less flat. Not sure about changing the shape...might work but I do like the general feel of what I have now except for the flatness. Will have to spend some time on it :3

i can try to shade the circle better for you if you want xD i was kinda forced into staying up for my brain was a bit scattered on what to do and all lol.. my template pages when i work on art normally looks like a copy paste graveyard >.> with like 10 or so versions of one thing and some of them are only a few pixels that were changed from the next Dx
