I read that before it became overly popular

I didn't even know about it until the fourth book came out so I didn't have the chance to XD

I was able to do that at least. The movies were...kind of good but didn't really compare to the books.

The Harry Potter books are good. <3

If a young adult book is popular, I may want to read it for curiosity's sake just to see what it is like.

Amber Spyglass was pretty good too, though the end kind of made me sad...

I didn't like the His Dark Materials books that much -- especially the last third of the Amber Spyglass.

The problem with the movie -- the Golden Compass -- was that it only covered the first book. That was not all that good a place to stop the trilogy's continuous story.

That sounds odd. I've meant to read the golden compass... but i never have.

I still liked them. The ending was REALLY sad in my eyes though.
