i balk at anything visual that is dark/violent, though i can quickly skim if it's something written.
i usually go for cutesy games, not childish but with cutesy graphics. or visual novels.

another difference is that i don't handle visual gore well at all, and my reflexes are slow to top it off. so if i play anything non-cutesy it's usually a text-based rpg or a mud or something.
