Yeah.
I was just mentioning that the same thing happens with AdventureQuest. Really, people want something to remember or enjoy the fact that they participated in a past event...so limited time items are made. If one joins in late, or disappears for a while, it can be jarring, unless there is the ability to trade items and all.
(For the above mentioned AQ, this and a new fighting system that favors max-level/max efficiency characters but is brutal to low-level or more "I just want to enjoy a game" players...bleh)
