Within the library, the ice-candles flickered out,
The light overhead was blotted,
From the sentient bookshelf came a moan,
The hairs of the library-animals grew mottled,

Without the light, the power died,
The candied shop grew bitter,
Lawtan's hair momentarily grew white,
Below, the seas mixed and shattered,

Outside, open to the bay, a ghastly form appeared,
With moss-like cobwebs from top-gallant to hull,
It moved forward without air,
With a mysterious, haunting tune of yore,

It has brought ye all aboard.
