Clothing making and textiles, but there're other areas that are interesting to me as well.

Den, I didn't know you were a SCAdian!

So in the SCA I have learned:
Lampwork Bead making
Spinning Wool Yarn/thread
Tablet Weaving
Warp Weighted Weaving
Calligraphy (Only 1 hand successfully, but I'm working on this one)
Metal casting
Whipcord Braiding
Blackwork Embroidery (Never again)

There are so many other things, but those are what comes to mind at the moment.

Stabbsworth 11-11-2019 08:58 PM

interesting. i don't suppose they teach wool felting, do they?

Mekatra 11-11-2019 09:00 PM

I'm sure someone in the SCA teaches felting. It's a pretty popular modern craft too though, so you could probably find someone outside of the SCA to teach that.

Stabbsworth 11-11-2019 09:06 PM

i'd like to, but i don't have the money for it. ;;

Mekatra 11-11-2019 09:08 PM

Story of my life. There are so many things I would love to do (metal casting is one of them) that I just can't afford outside of SCA events.

Stabbsworth 11-11-2019 09:10 PM

i have tons of things that i'd like to do that aren't free.

other than youtubing, because i can do my own video editing.

Mekatra 11-11-2019 09:16 PM

I have just had to focus on cheaper crafts.

Then again, things I couldn't afford to do at 20 are easier now.

Stabbsworth 11-11-2019 09:20 PM

mm.

i'm sort of just wandering through and trying not to make myself look like too much of an idiot.

Mekatra 11-11-2019 09:24 PM

My husband says that a lot.

He says he wasn't supposed to live past 25. I'm glad he did though, cuz we met when he was 25.

Plus if he had died before now he wouldn't have gotten to start testosterone or get his name legally changed. Or find a sport he really loves (historical fencing)
