There is no way to brick your DS.. the DS can't download the stuff, it's all on a flash cart only, and you use it with the DS, it basically is an emulator so your DS thinks it's a real game, I've used them for years, have had over 70 games, probably closer to 100 I've tried and none did anything to my DS.. (I use emuparadise now since my romulation DS section was shut down *cry*)
Soem games wont work unless they're patched and cracked and altered but you can find them altered online, and some patches don't work with certain flashcarts, each is different.
Like I can't get the Japanese Pokemon Black and White to work at all, but it is a DSi game and mine is a DSLite.. soo yeah.

It does since the DSi has extra features... and there are two different types of R4 flashcarts in general.. well there're many.. a DS/DSLite one and a one for the DSi.. the R4DS and the R4DSi or just R4 and R4i as they're known :P
I don't have the DSi flashcart program, and the black and white are DSi enhanced games.. soo yeah the basic R4 wont work for em. Plus certain anti piracies built in make them have to be altered before they can be used, like with patches, or cracks..
Certain flashcart types can get around it, but others can't.

Lmao! I like doing the farming and everything. What a life to have even though it's kind of frustrating when you have so much to check up on. xD But I love the Wii Version.
