Raven stopped walking and sighed a little. "... I can't," he whispered as gently as he could.

--

Nic still said nothing.
Default #7074
Laurel frowned, "What do you mean?" she asked in confusion, "Just tell them."

--

So Wolfe, also a lover of silence, stared out at the water as he waited for a response.
Default #7075
Raven said nothing, but his expression told her he was sorry.

--

Finally after a few minutes Nic replied, "Whatever helps you sleep at night." It wasn't said out of anger or spite. It sounded more like personal experience.
Default #7076
Laurel didn't want to see that expression. She backed all the way into a corner and clamped her hands over her ears, squeezing her eyes shut.

--

Wolfe snorted ever so slightly, "Who says I sleep?" he asked quietly.
Default #7077
After a little while Raven slowly started approaching Laurel again.

--

After a long moment Nic replied, "Raven."
Default #7078
The moment Raven got too close Laurel's eyes shot open as she glared at him, "Get away from me!" she screamed before making a break for the door.

--

Wolfe blinked, suddenly very confused.
Default #7079
Raven backed off, not pursuing her.

--

After another moment Nic explained blankly, "It was a joke."
Default #7080
Laurel kept running straight for the docks.

--

Wolfe still didn't seem to get it but nodded after a moment. Then his head tilted a little, like he was hearing something. Nic couldn't hear anything out of the ordinary. "You should go swimming," Wolfe suddenly said, staring back out at the water.

Nic frowned a little, thinking something over briefly before taking off his shoes, socks, and the jacket that had been covering his back as he walked over to the railing.
Default #7082
As soon as he reached the railing he heard the sound of a jet ski starting up. Laurel was just started to navigate out of the docks.
Default #7083
Nic looked around for a little while before getting up onto the railing and diving off.
Default #7084
Laurel heard the splash and turned slightly, slowing down momentarily to see who it was.
Default #7085
As Nic came up out of the water, he somehow managed to keep his orientation as he turned toward the docks.
Default #7086
Laurel paused a moment when she saw Nic but then her anger erupted again and she angled her jet ski for open ocean at top speed.
Default #7087
"Laurel," Nic tried to call over the sound of the jet ski engine, still bobbing in place.
Default #7088
Laurel ignored him, zipping out as fast as she could. She'd only ridden the jet ski with James before... but it couldn't but much different than a motorcycle... right?
