When Long stepped through the door, Rosen's glare fixed on him. "Some bodyguard you are!" he announced, "What happened to you flying in and rescuing me, huh?!"

--

No luck so far, James' genetics were actually very different from a typical person. It was going to take awhile to read through it all to many any sense of it.

--

When Missy began making plans to leave, Wolfe went to visit her. He seemed, a little more awkward than usual as he sat down next to her.

Long looked a little startled. After standing in the door way for a little while, he silently just walked over to him.

--

Yue sighed, finding this boring and tedious. But she stuck with it. Blaze on the other hand seemed to find it fascinating. Missy seemed neutral.

--

Missy was a little caught off guard by the awkwardness, but she waited for him to speak.

Rosen continued to glare but mostly out of pain. "I don't know what Sheng saw in you," he noted, "You suck at body-guarding!"

--

Hmm... perhaps it wasn't his genetics.

--

"We cannot let you go with your memories of us," he stated quietly.

Long didn't try to explain as he sat in a chair a few feet away from Rosen.

--

Eventually Yue decided this route was useless and tried looking for another scientific explanation.

--

"Why not?" Missy asked. "I'm more valuable to you away from here with my memories intact," she explained simply.

Rosen looked at Long, "What do you want? Are you going to throw yourself at me again? It's not like i can resist in this state," he spat.

--

A further look at his brain soon seemed necessary.

--

Wolfe shook his head firmly, "We cannot take that risk, Missy," he stated quietly, "There is a reason... that we all have such distinct hair. It allows us to piece through your memories and delete only us from them. You will remember coming to Nic. You will remember Laurel and James and this mansion. You will remember all of it but without us in it."

Long swallowed a little, "... I'm sorry," he told Rosen quietly.

--

Yue was very hesitant to ask James if she could scan his brain. So she let the project drop for awhile, hoping a good opportunity might present itself to bring it up.

--

Missy raised her eyebrows. "Whoa..." she muttered, seeming to find this fascinating. "How does that work?"

Rosen watched Long for a long moment before seeming to consent, "I want my cake," he decided. It was still in the fridge beside his bed.

--

Wolfe smirked ever so slightly, "It's a safety net Thomas gave us. Neon hair is an easy thing to look for." He paused, "Rosen, of course, will be the hardest to remove."
Default #10984
Long didn't seem to know what Rosen was talking about for a little while, but then he seemed to remember. So he got up and retrieved one of Rosen's pieces of cake from the fridge.

--

Missy frowned a little, "What makes the red hue different?" she asked.
Default #10985
Rosen clearly couldn't eat it himself.

--

Wolfe watched Missy for a moment, "You spent the most time with him. It will be hard to keep there from being large gaps in your memory."
Default #10986
Long sat there with the cake for awhile before seeming to figure this out. After a little debating he scooted his chair closer and scooped a small bite with a fork before holding it out to Rosen.

--

Missy blinked, almost looking a little disappointed with that response. But she shrugged. "If I don't remember you, I won't be able to clue you in if I find a possible lead for the lab."
Default #10987
Rosen snapped it up before looking expectantly at Long, or glaring expectantly to be exact. "It's your fault," he reminded him, "Not only did you not save me, but I was even getting your dumb box for you!"

--

Wolfe nodded, "Thank you for your willingness to help," he told her kindly, "but it will be best for you not to know anything."
Default #10988
"... I didn't ask you to," Long reminded him as he scooped another bite for Rosen.

--

Missy shook her head, clearly thinking Wolfe was making a mistake. "You all are incredibly stubborn," she noted.
Default #10989
Rosen took the bite before resuming his glare, "Oh, so it's my fault for daring to be helpful!" he sputtered with a mouthful of cake, bit of it flying at Long.

--

Wolfe nodded a bit, "I'm sorry," he sighed, he never took pleasure in erasing memories.
Default #10990
Long managed to deflect the cake with a hand. When Rosen was done talking, he got another scoop ready.

--

Missy let out a sigh. "Whatever," she replied. "Just as long as you guys, Nic included, doesn't come knocking on my door again for help."
Default #10991
Rosen seemed to be content enough with the cake though his face remained in a grimace most of the time.

--

Wolfe chuckled slightly, "You've been a lot of help to us, Missy," he told her, "We'll let you get on with your life now."
Default #10992
Long didn't say anything as he kept feeding Rosen cake, being as tidy about it as he could.

--

Missy shrugged. "Save the nice words," she replied as she got up to keep packing. "I won't remember them anyway."
