I think character development for my people just sort of happens, it's never really planned.

And no, planning is counter-productive to character development. it has to be natural or else it feels forced and doesn't really work.

I think RPing is the best way to do it, cause then I get to exercise the character in scenarios that aren't necessarily of my own construction.

Roo. Having them interact with things that you can't totally plan is the best way to see what they're really like.

And then the characters write themselves!
