Randy jabbed him with a finger. "Why not?"

"Because I have a wife and a son to think of, I cannot needlessly risk my life over you," said Kurt.
Default #467
"You think I'd kill you given the chance?" Randy questioned.
Default #468
"It was established that one of us would have to die if I was to go on without you," said Kurt, "If I must have you as a thorn in my side forever then so be it, I will not upset my wife or neglect my son just for the sake of removing you,"

Randy held back a frustrated growl. "No more of this plottin' to kill me?"
Default #470
"No, you are free to go," said Kurt dismissively.

"What'll you do if I come after you?" asked Randy, eyes narrowed.
Default #472
"I'll have you arrested," said Kurt fixing his gaze on Randy, "I will get the rest of the force to back me up and we will come after you and take you to prison for a very long time,"

This time Randy did growl. There was no sport left in it, no nothing! He bit his tongue and spat blood before turning in the opposite direction. He'd figure something out... He wasn't about to let go that easily.

Kurt snorted and continued home, the games were over, and that was how he wanted it. Without a backward glance he returned to B.

Meanwhile, Randy VIII was absolutely fuming. How could Kurt just turn away from him like that? He wasn't entirely sure what it was that they'd had, but it was something and he wasn't willing to lose it. He knew that Kurt had felt it, too, in some way, at some point. But how could he possibly get it back now? He had almost looked forward to being killed. Had he not enjoyed the struggle as much as he did, had some small part of him not insisted that there was more to the whole thing than he was allowing himself to see, he would have given himself up freely just to die a part of it. He'd presented Kurt with the offer many times... And now there was nothing. Why did it hurt him so? Perhaps it would be better if he just left Kurt alone completely, if only to make at least one of them happy... With a frustrated snarl, he resolved to do just that.

Kurt couldn't deny that it was odd to finally be free of Randy VIII but if there was one thing he wasn't going to do it was question his blessings. He resumed his work as usual...but one day things didn't go so well for him.

In a seedy part of town which housed some of Kenny's less reputable individuals, a small group had gathered with plans to take out that cracker cop who'd dared to arrest them in the past. As soon as Kurt was within range, they approached, a group of rather large men all carrying concealed weapons.
Default #478
Kurt sense the shift in atmosphere and smelled the fear and anger on the approaching crowed, with a growl he got his knife ready....a fight was going to go down any minute now.
Default #479
And that it did, as the hoodlums circled around him and drew their weapons. Some had guns, others had knives, and one carried a crowbar. With a nasal cry of "Kill Whitey!" from the smallest and lightest member of the group, they were on him.

Kurt took down three of them before he was beaten into unconsciousness then the mob dragged him away to hang him from the nearest tree...
