I've never read that book, but I've seen a few movies. I liked the prophetic thing the old guy on the docks would say.

"One one day you'll smell land where there be no land, and on that day, Ahab shall go to his grave only to rise again within the hour and beckon that all, all save one, shall follow."

That's probably not 100%, but it's been a while since I've seen any movies.

Bumped into this in a film actually, and thought I'd check to see if it was really in the book. It was. :)

"Would you have any objection to my running my finger along your parietal fissure? A cast of your skull, sir, until the original becomes available, would be an ornament to any anthropological museum. It is not my intention to be fulsome, but I confess that I covet your skull."

My friend got a choose your own adventure style book about a stuffed rabbit trying to survive a zombie attack. A couple of the options amount to the phrase "are you sure?"

"Love was an emotion through which you occasionally enjoyed yourself. It could not do things."

...from Maurice by E.M. Forster, which ultimately has a happy ending and even a romantic one, but the title character goes through some pretty dark patches along the way. That line broke my heart.

"If I insulted you in any way, let me assure you, I meant to do it."

- Tarik Torgaddon, 2nd Company Captain of the Luna Wolves, member of the elite Mournival.

This quote comes from Horus rises, he author is Dan Abnett.

I'd quote Aaron the Moor right now but I think I already did further back in the thread.

EDIT: yes, I did, page 4. It seems one quote wasn't perfect though so I will repost it now.

"I should repent the evils I have done:
Ten thousand worse than ever yet I did
Would I perform, if I might have my will;
If one good deed in all my life I did,
I do repent it from my very soul. (5.3.1)"

Serious evil, this guy.

"Hell is other person" - John Paul Sartre, No Exit

The story is truly a crazy one. It's even crazier than Dante's Inferno. But nevertheless it was a great play that tackles on human nature.

And yeah, I no longer need to find hell. Hell is already my seatmate. Hahahah Jk!

"After all, to the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure" - Harry Potter & The Philosopher's Stone

"I think there's just one kind of folks. Folks" - To Kill A Mockingbird

"Until an hour before the Devil fell, God thought him beautiful in Heaven" - The Crucible

"The only good human being is a dead one" - Animal Farm

"We shall meet in the place where there is no darkness" - 1984

I had to smile at this passage. The one that follows it is pretty good, too.

"The waiter recommended a Basque liqueur called Izzarra. He brought in the bottle and poured a liqueur-glass full. He said Izzarra was made of the flowers of the Pyranees. The veritable flowers of the Pyranees. It looked like hair-oil and smelled like Italian strega. I told him to take the flowers of the Pyranees away and bring me a vieux marc."
- Ernest Hemingway, The Sun Also Rises.

Sorry for posting so late, but when I saw the title of this thread I instantly thought of this quote.

“Lolita, light of my life, fire of my loins. My sin, my soul. Lo-lee-ta: the tip of the tongue taking a trip of three steps down the palate to tap, at three, on the teeth. Lo. Lee. Ta. She was Lo, plain Lo, in the morning, standing four feet ten in one sock. She was Lola in slacks. She was Dolly at school. She was Dolores on the dotted line. But in my arms she was always Lolita."

― Vladimir Nabokov, Lolita

That is an interesting quote. I don't know the correct words, but the words are very oral. "L" uses the tongue so much and so does "d". It's all sexual words and by the very utterance of the words the state the author was aiming for is achieved.
I used to have a sig. Really.

I see your STC and raise you Keats.

Quote:
I saw pale kings and princes too,
Pale warriors, death-pale were they all;
They cried—“La Belle Dame sans Merci
Hath thee in thrall!”
Cold silence has a tendency
to atrophy any sense of compassion
between supposed lovers.
Between supposed brothers.
