National Novel Writing Month. A bunch of crazy people all get together and try to write 50 000 words over one month. I needed to hit 10k by last midnight to be on par but I'm only at 6k right now. Still, it's a good showing for me. This is my first year trying it. It's much bigger than I thought, with regional representatives, merchandise, and deals with publishing houses, software developers etc, for participants and winners.

I'm being what is dubbed a NaNo Rebel, as I'm working on a memoir instead of a novel.

Wow...remind me to do that next year (trying to write about 1-2k of words a day...)

It certainly is a rather interesting challenge :3.

I could probably make the time to do so, but I'm not particularly good at keeping a steady pace.

Sitting at 7k for now, which puts me in a good position for when I wake up. Is bed time now.

@Espy: I lose interest in my hobbies far too easy to keep on writing until I reach 50k words xD. Still, I might actually try it sometime, I guess...

@Quiet: That's good to hear :D! If you keep it up you might actually finish before the month is even over :3.

I am not doing that this year.... I tried with a friend my sophomore year and we basically didn't sleep.

o.O It was that bad...? Then again, 1 month isn't that much time to begin with ^^;.

In college november is busy so that plus 50K words.... it gets pretty bad.

For 50k in one month you only need to write 1700 words a day, but that's a lot for someone like me. I'm at 7k total right now, which puts me on track for 30k if I keep going at the same rate. I doubt I'll make the 50k, which is a little discouraging, but this is the most I've ever done before and I do want to get something substantial out of this, even if all I do is get a few personal copies made for posterity and forget actual publishing. Memoirs are something of a minefield since they involve family and such that may not like what one is writing.

I've never even gotten close to the 50k for NaNoWriMo. ._. I just don't have time to write that much everyday. Maybe once I'm done with college?

Gauis I hear you! I got to 40K and was excited about how much I wrote while doing term papers on top of it. A thousand words a night was my typical with an extra thousand every weekend day.

I was pissed off with what I wrote last night but I feel better about things today. Still considering switching projects though, once I can find something to switch to.
