I think I like all my avis. I tried to only join sites where I like the bases and items.

I was actually explaining the concept of Avatars on avatar forums to my art teacher yesterday. "Somewhat limited Pixelated collages used to represent users and user ideas on a forum."

Not a bad description! I like it! When I write a paper about these sort of sites, mind if I use that? I will quote you of course.

Actually, I like to think of my avatars as electric [that is, electronic] paper dolls. XD

Huh...I guess I just think of dolls/miniatures as 3D collages.

Either way - it sounds great. Sometimes, even though I love to embellish, I can't find the right words!

I think of pixels as flat, like animation cells. Layering them reminds me of paper dolls, too.

I always think of cross stitching. *shrug*

That is cool. It would apply, too, since the pixels are squares.
