I've been reading through some stuff from my library...

I sort of realized just now that I've neglected the Brothers Grimm
(Minor historical fact: the "German" fairy tales were actually collected from the Frank/French)

Sort of helps fill in a cultural gap for me.

Grimm's fairy tales were messed up. I remember having an old hardcover copy many years ago... I never could bring myself to read some of the stories all the way through.

Honestly, they never seemed that messed up to me. People always say they are, but in comparison to several things that came before and since, they gravitate toward "mild"

I had an illustrated hardcover edition. I loved the pictures in that book-they were my first exposure to semi-accurate garments of the middle ages.

And I'm not reading either of those books that I listed there now. I finished 'em both. And liked 'em. LOL Thinking what I want to read next now. Oh, and neither of those were hardcopy editions!
